Dear Friends,

During the past 14 months, I've traveled over 10,000 miles across Texas seeking the Republican Party's nomination to serve as a justice on the Texas Supreme Court. Yesterday, Texans exercised their precious right to govern themselves through their vote in the March primary. Early this morning, we finished a very close election.

None of the six candidates in my race for Place 3 received a majority of the votes. Under Texas law, only the two candidates with the highest vote totals go to a runoff.

Unfortunately, I missed making the runoff by slightly over 800 votes.

Traveling across our state and talking with people about our judicial system has been a great experience. Thank you to the 203,720 Texans who voted for me. Thank you to those who supported my campaign through your financial contributions and your phone calls and e-mails on my behalf. Thank you to those who put up signs in your yard and alongside streets and highways, and who worked at the polls on my behalf. Most importantly, thank you for your prayers for my campaign staff, my family, and for me. Your trust is inspiring, your generosity is humbling, and your love for Texas is amazing. I cannot express my gratitude with words.

All Texans need and deserve an experienced, independent, 'judicial-restraint' conservative judiciary. I've spent my career working towards that goal. You've inspired me to continue my efforts to serve all of Texas. I hope you will join me in that effort.

With warm regards,

—Jim
